Matt Pieper

Adjunct Music Instructor: Trumpet and Horn

Born in Orlando, FL, Matt Pieper holds the position of Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet and Horn at Eastern Florida State College.

In addition to serving on the EFSC faculty, he also teaches trumpet at Florida Southern College and Seminole State College and manages an active private teaching studio in the Orlando metropolitan area.

Pieper maintains an active freelance performing career, having performed with the Jacksonville Symphony, Florida Orchestra, Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Space Coast Symphony Orchestra, Villages Philharmonic Orchestra, and regularly performing in the Orlando freelance scene.

He has performed numerous solo recitals and has appeared as a soloist in front of the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra.

Pieper is experienced in various types of music, having recorded two albums with the Flying Horse Big Band (Good News and Florida Rays), and consistently performing in the commercial music scene.

He holds a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) degree from the University of Central Florida, and a Master of Music (M.M.) from Carnegie Mellon University.

His primary teachers include Neal Berntsen, Ben Wright, Micah Wilkinson, Wiff Rudd, and John Almeida.

He has been a fellow at the National Orchestral Institute, as well as the Fresno Opera and Orchestra Summer Academy (FOOSA).
