Joanna White

Professor of Art

Joanna WhiteJoanna White completed her MFA in Studio Art at Florida State University in 2005 with a concentration in installation and inter-media work. Previously, she earned a BFA in Studio Art from Birmingham-Southern College with a concentration in Painting and Drawing. She taught studio art at FSU from 2004-05 and has been teaching at EFSC since 2005.

Professor White teaches a variety of courses including Drawing I, Drawing II (Figure Drawing), Painting, Acrylic Painting, Watercolor, Advanced Painting, and Two-Dimensional Design. She has served as the sponsor for the EFSC Art Club, and the coordinator for the EFSC Juried Student Art Exhibit and the EFSC Faculty Exhibit.

In the community, Ms. White has served as a judge for numerous regional and local art exhibits and art festivals, and also as a juror for an international fiber-arts exhibit Stretching Threads, hosted by the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, which drew hundreds of entries from across the globe.

Professionally, White's artwork has been featured in several solo shows, and in museum exhibits at the Tampa Museum of Art, the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Museum of Florida Art, the Brevard Art Museum, the Florida State University Museum of Fine Art and the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Garden.

She has exhibited across the United States, and her work has been selected by curators from the Museum of Modern Art New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Art Boston, the Smithsonian, the High Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery and the Guggenheim Museum New York.

Her work has been reviewed by the St. Petersburg Times, Daytona Beach News-Journal, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Sarasota Pelican-Press, Valdosta Daily Times, Florida Weekly (Fort Myers), Focus Magazine South Florida, Florida Today, and Southern Magazine, among others. She has also been featured by the cable television program Focus.
