Class Participation Reporting

What is Class Participation Reporting (CPR)?

Class Participation Reporting, formerly known as census reporting, is the process used to verify that a registered student is actively participating in their Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) class. Class participation is reported for every student at the start of each part-of-term for all classes. An additional participation report is also required for 16-week and 12-week classes.

Why It Matters:

Meeting the participation requirements outlined below confirms the student’s active enrollment in the class. If these requirements are not met, the student will be withdrawn from the class, which could put their financial aid eligibility at risk.

Class participation protects the student’s academic and financial goals. If students have any questions about Class Participation Reporting or active participation, they should reach out to their instructor for guidance. Students can also review more information about EFSC's class participation guidelines.

Initial Class Participation Reporting Requirements

Instructors are required to report first-week class participation for each student as defined below:

In-Person Class

1. Student physically attended at least one class session, and
2. Student completed a required graded activity.

Online Class

1. Student is actively participating in class, and
2. Student completed a required online activity.
Note: Simply logging into the Canvas class does not constitute attendance/participation.

Hybrid or Directed Study Class

1. Student physically attended at least one class session, and
2. Student completed a required graded activity.
Note: Simply logging into the Canvas class does not constitute attendance/participation.

For students who registered during the add or drop period after the course’s last meeting for the first week, students must attend the first class of week two (2) and follow-up with their instructor regarding the missed graded assignment. Failure to meet the participation requirements will result in the student being marked as not participating and withdrawn from the course.

Additional Class Participation Reporting Requirements

For 16-week and 12-week classes, instructors are required to submit an additional Class Participation Report. A student is considered actively participating if they have recently completed assignment(s) leading up to this checkpoint and continue to engage in the course as outlined in the syllabus. This report verifies each student’s continued participation.
