Academic Council

The Role of the AC

The Academic Council (AC), formerly the Academic Affairs Council (AAC), represents the full-time faculty and serves as liaison to the Academic Disciplines and to the College administration. It develops, interprets, and makes recommendations to executive-level administration regrading academics at the College; the AC is the voice of the faculty in academic matters. Concerns and questions can be communicated through one’s AC representative(s) or may be directly addressed to the AC Chair or Vice Chair.

The Council meets monthly during the major semesters. AC meetings are open to all members of the faculty, staff and administration. Those wishing to submit an agenda item should contact the Chair or the Vice Chair. Additionally, as the College’s largest council, the AC routinely seeks new members. If you are interested in visiting or potentially joining the AC, please contact the AC leadership and/or your Collegewide Chair.

AC Committees play a key role in the Council and are covered in separate web sections via the links below. The AC also maintains many key documents and forms used by the faculty; see the “Documents/Forms” tab below for these resources.

AC Committees

Committees play a key role in the operation of the Academic Council and these committees rely on the involvement of faculty volunteers and when appropriate College staff who play a role in the committee's area of interest.

Information about each committee, including contact information, relevant documents, and resource links, is available on each committee’s webpage.

Note: Committees are collegewide and generally open to new members. Voting members must be full-time faculty (tenure not required).
