Correctional and police officers in training

Criminal Justice Cross-Over Programs

Florida's Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission has established basic recruit cross-over training programs to provide lateral movement of Florida officers between criminal justice disciplines.

If you are currently Florida-certified as a Corrections Officer or Law Enforcement Officer, the Eastern Florida State College Public Safety Institute's cross-over Career and Technical Certificate (CTC) programs can lead to additional or dual certifications.

⇒ Crossover from Correctional Officer to Law Enforcement Officer CTC: This part-time program leads to certification in law enforcement and is designed for Corrections Officers who are Florida-certified or individuals who have completed the Corrections Academy and successfully passed the State Exam (within the last four years).

⇒ Crossover from Law Enforcement Officer to Correctional Officer CTC: This part-time program leads to certification in corrections and is designed for Law Enforcement Officers who are Florida-certified or individuals who have completed the Law Enforcement Academy and successfully passed the State Exam (within the last four years).

Those rates are for Florida residents and do not include any fees related to applying for the programs, course materials, or post-program state certification testing.

Neither program is eligible for Federal financial aid such as Pell Grants. However, there are other options available to help you cover the costs. If you have a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship or a Florida Prepaid account, you can use those funds toward your education. Veterans may be eligible for Veterans Educational Benefits, and there are scholarships offered by the EFSC Foundation and external organizations that you can apply for. You also can use the Nelnet Payment Plan to manage your tuition payments.
