Eastern Florida State College regularly holds contests and drawings to give current students a chance to win cool prizes. Explore the list below for eligibility requirements, deadlines, how to enter and more information about each promotion.

Black History Month Essay Contest

ELIGIBILITY

The Black History Month Essay Contest (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students and Brevard County high school/home school students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 12:00 AM ET and ends on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:30 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

Students should email an essay (1,200-word maximum) to covela@easternflorida.edu during the Contest Period. The essay may explore any topic relating to African-American history and the right to vote, including the occurrence of a pivotal event, the life and work of an influential figure or the rise and fall of a political institution. Students may also enter the Contest by hand delivering their submission to the following address during the Contest Period:

Limit one (1) entry per person for the duration of the Contest Period, regardless of method of entry. Entries received from any person in excess of the stated limitation will be void. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

WINNER SELECTION

On or around Monday, February 17, 2020, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with any judging criteria (adherence to the topic, length, language and content) from among all eligible entries received. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around Monday, February 17, 2020. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

The winner(s) of the Contest will receive:

Grand Prize: $50 Gift Card (1 Available)

Prize retail value may differ at the time of award. The specifics of the prize(s) will be solely determined by the Sponsor. No cash or other prize substitution(s) will be permitted, except at the Sponsor's discretion. All prizes are non-transferable and subject to income tax. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation, any and all federal, state, and/or local income taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. Any winner of a prize valued in excess of $600 at the time of award must provide his or her social security number, EIN, or TIN to Eastern Florida State College and shall receive an IRS Form 1099. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for the Sponsor to use a winner’s name, likeness and entry for purposes of advertising and promotion without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

Arrangements can be made to mail the prize(s) to the recipient(s); otherwise, the prize(s) must be claimed in Titusville Campus, Building 1, Room 115 (1311 North U.S. 1, Titusville, Florida, 32796, United States of America) within ten (10) days from the time of award notification.

Apollo in the Bay Talent Show

ELIGIBILITY

The 4th Annual Apollo in the Bay Talent Show (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 6:00 AM ET and ends on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at 9:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

During the Contest Period, students should sign up through the Office of Student Life (Palm Bay Campus, Building 1, Room 138) to audition a talent of choice in accordance with any audition guidelines (contact the OSL for more information). Students may audition on one of the following dates: Wednesday, January 29, 2020; Thursday, January 30, 2020 or Thursday, February 6, 2020. Selected students will present their talents at a competitive Talent Show event on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Students may also enter the Contest via email. Email entries must be received prior to the end of the Contest Period.

On or around Wednesday, February 12, 2020, one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with any judging criteria (familiarity with the act, enthusiasm/expression, movement/gestures, tempo, dress/costume/appearance, evidence of preparation, appropriateness of act and audience interest) from among all eligible entries received. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around Wednesday, February 12, 2020. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries. Any prize having a total announced value of $5,000 or more must be offered in strict compliance with §849.094, Florida Statutes.

Black History Month Poetry Contest

ELIGIBILITY

The Black History Month Poetry Contest (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). Employees of Eastern Florida State College (the "Sponsor") and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest and their respective immediate families (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible.

CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at 5:00 PM ET and ends on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 5:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

Students should email a PDF or Word document containing an original poem/spoken word piece (12-point Times New Roman, no more than 60 lines) to schledornj@easternflorida.edu during the Contest Period. Submissions should include the student's full name and Titan email address in the upper right corner, and relate to the "African Americans and the Vote" theme. Students may also enter the Contest by hand delivering their submission to the following address during the Contest Period:

Profiling Greatness - Gale Database Library Contest

ELIGIBILITY

The Profiling Greatness - Gale Database Library Contest (the "Contest") is open to currently enrolled Eastern Florida State College students who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia and are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry (or who submit a signed parent/guardian consent and release form). CONTEST PERIOD

The Contest begins on Monday, February 3, 2020 at 8:00 AM ET and ends on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 1:00 PM ET (the "Contest Period"). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER

Eligible students are encouraged to complete the Gale Database Profiling Greatness activity (contact the Library for more information) and return it to the Cocoa Campus Building 12 Library Circulation Desk for a chance to win. Students may also submit or enter via emailEmail entries must be received prior to the end of the Contest Period.

Limit one (1) entry per person per week for the duration of the Contest Period, regardless of method of entry. Entries received from any person in excess of the stated limitation will be void. All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned.

WINNER SELECTION

On or around Monday, February 10, 2020; Monday, February 17, 2020; Monday, February 24, 2020 and Monday, March 2, 2020 (once every Monday for the duration of the Contest Period), one or more entities working on behalf of the Sponsor will select the potential winner(s) in accordance with any judging criteria (completion, accuracy, relevance and proper citation) from among all eligible entries received. The odds of being selected depend on the number of entries received. The Sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner(s) via social media, email, telephone, or in person on or around Monday, February 10, 2020; Monday, February 17, 2020; Monday, February 24, 2020 or Monday, March 2, 2020. If the potential winner(s) cannot be contacted within five (5) days, the Sponsor may select alternate potential winner(s) from among the remaining eligible entries.
