Networking Systems - Computer BAS Specialization
EFSC's Networking Systems BAS Track is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed for a mid-level management position.
In this program, you'll learn to assess a company's network requirements, then plan, design, and implement systems accordingly. This includes updating existing systems and overseeing the development of new ones.
You'll also gain a comprehensive understanding of essential hardware and software components, such as computer processing units, memory requirements, input and output devices, operating systems, and application software.
With the rapidly growing demand in this technology driven field, graduates can pursue various positions, including computer network architect, network administrator, and computer support specialist.
The Networking Systems Specialization is one of the five available tracks under EFSC's Computer Information Systems Technology Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree. You can only earn this BAS degree once and must choose one specialization.
Networking Systems BAS Track - Course Curriculum
This specialization focuses on information systems evaluation, network security, and related skills. You'll learn to analyze data, improve organizational processes, and ensure user productivity and work quality. The curriculum covers network design, security planning, and operating information systems. Additionally, you'll gain expertise in forensic data analysis and mitigating security breaches in the software development life cycle.

You have flexible options to select either in-person classes or use a hybrid approach that combines online and face-to-face learning. Students in the specialization may also be able to earn the Network Security Forensics ATC, a certificate that includes courses that are also part of the BAS degree track.
In order to begin upper-level courses, students will need to earn a grade of "C" or higher in these two courses: COP 2334: Introduction to C++ Programming and STA 2023: Statistics. If you haven't taken these before entering the program, an EFSC advisor can help with course planning.
Networking Systems BAS Track - Admissions Information
To apply for the Networking Systems Specialization, you must go through EFSC's standard admissions process for a bachelor's degree. The program accepts students for the Fall, Spring, and Summer Terms, with start dates in August, January, and May, respectively.
Prior to beginning classes, it's essential to have completed an Associate in Science (A.S.) or an Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree from a regionally accredited college. Please note that an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree does not meet the minimum eligibility requirements. If you hold an AAS degree and wish to transfer to a Bachelor of Applied Science program, we highly recommend consulting with a bachelor advisor for personalized guidance and information.
Brief Costs and Financial Aid Eligibility
The estimated cost for the program, including tuition and fees, is approximately $7,200 for in-state students. This doesn't cover additional expenses like course materials or lab fees.
Because you enter with an associate degree, you've already fulfilled 60 credit-hours, so you'll need to complete the remaining 60 credit-hours, with about 39 of those credits being upper-level courses on the tuition fee schedule.
To help manage the cost of your education, we strongly recommend applying for financial aid, including Titan Scholarships provided by the EFSC Foundation. Additionally, exploring community-based external scholarships can offer further opportunities to make your education more affordable.

This BAS specialization is eligible for EFSC's $10,000 Bachelor Degree Program, specifically tailored to help you manage your expenses over a four-year study period. To be eligible, simply plan on earning an associate degree at EFSC and then continuing into one of the Computer Information Systems Technology BAS degree tracks. Speak with an advisor before starting your associate degree if interested.
