COVID Vaccine Available to EFSC Students April 29 on Melbourne Campus

Students at Eastern Florida State College age 18 and up can receive the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, April 29 in the Melbourne Campus gym in an easy walk-in process with no appointments needed.

The vaccine will be administered by the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County and EFSC nursing students who have been performing vaccinations since February at Jess Parrish Medical Center in Titusville.

Students can receive the vaccine at no charge from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine available.

Students should bring documentation to verify their age if requested, such as a form of official photo identification that proves their age. Options include a driver's license or a birth certificate along with a student photo ID card.

The Moderna vaccine requires two doses and students can receive their second dose Thursday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Melbourne Campus gym.

“This is an excellent, easy and convenient way for students to become vaccinated. We hope they take advantage of this great opportunity,” said Joe Ambrose, EFSC’s Chief of Security and Director of Emergency Management.

The move is part of a growing statewide effort by the Florida Department of Health to vaccinate as many people as possible in the fight against the pandemic.
