Services & Research Assistance

The Libraries at Eastern Florida State College offer a wide range of services, research and reference desk assistance, both on campus and online. Explore the services outlined here and throughout the Library's web pages and Research Guides.

Academic Databases & eResources

Eastern Florida State College libraries offer a large print collection as well as digital resources including databases, electronic books, e-audio books, and streaming videos and music.

Our print and digital collections are carefully selected to support academic classes. You may read, listen, watch and enjoy hundreds of books on your phone, eReader or tablet. Online resources are easy to access when logged into the myEFSC Portal or from the library website.

Ask-a-Librarian

Requests for research help may be made in person at any campus reference desk or by phone. The online Ask-A-Librarian service provides Florida residents with virtual reference service via live chat and text messaging from 10 AM to midnight Sunday through Thursday (ET), and from 10 AM to 5 PM Friday and Saturday (ET). The Ask-a-Librarian Email form is available to patrons 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Copyright

Copyright LibGuide is available through the library website and provides a basic understanding of copyright and the principles of fair use as they apply to the appropriate use of the Libraries’ services and materials.

Equipment (Including Laptops)

The EFSC Libraries have a variety of equipment available for student use, including computers, black/white and color printers, scanners, laptops, calculators, etc. Check availability with your campus librarian.

Laptops may be borrowed for a three-week loan period. Students must sign in to the loaner-laptop before it is taken out of the library. All laptops are loaded with MS Office applications and have WiFi access. If there is no hold, laptop loans may be renewed one time.

All borrowers of any EFSC Library equipment must sign an Equipment Loan Agreement, valid for one calendar year.

Honor Student Privileges

Librarians will give more in-depth instruction on using subject indexes for research, placing Interlibrary Loan requests and using specialized research tools. Appointments with a librarian can be made for individual research assistance.

Note: Honor students should immediately identify themselves and present their card each time they need library assistance.
