April 2, 2014

The president of Eastern Florida State College will discuss the college’s accomplishments and new initiatives during a “State of the College” address April 9.

Dr. Jim Richey will present his remarks at 11 a.m. at the Simpkins Fine Arts Center on the Cocoa Campus before students, faculty and staff. The event is open to the public.

The address will be streamed live on the college’s website at easternflorida.edu, and a complete transcript and video of the remarks will be posted on the college’s website afterward.

Richey will review Eastern Florida’s progress since it became a state college last year and began offering its first Bachelor Degree programs.

He will also discuss plans for the future and ways to further expand educational opportunities to students in Brevard County and East-Central Florida.

Eastern Florida State College is consistently ranked among the top institutions of its size in Florida and the nation. About 30,000 students attend classes annually on its Titusville, Cocoa, Melbourne and Palm Bay campuses, and online.

The college launched its first two Bachelor Degrees last year with seven more Bachelor's programs starting in August 2014.

All the programs are in the fast-growth job fields of Business, Health Care and Computer Information Technologies.
