Adult & Pediatric Cardiac Sonography Certificate Program
Build on your diagnostic imaging skills with Eastern Florida State College’s Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC) program.
The three-term, 27-credit program starts each Fall and allows registered sonography professionals with an A.S. degree to expand their career potential while helping doctors diagnose and treat heart-related issues.
Also known as echocardiography technologists, diagnostic cardiac sonographers use ultrasound machines, transducers, and other technology to create images of the human heart to evaluate chamber size, valvular function, and physiology, often without expensive, invasive methods. Cardiac Sonographers also maintain the specialized cardiac imaging equipment.
The limited access program prepares graduates for employment in a growing field. Cardiac sonographers are in high demand in today’s job market. The cardiac sonography certificate program offers flexible hours for working technologists who wish to obtain a new American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) credential.
The ATC curriculum can also be part of EFSC’s Applied Health Sciences Bachelor of Applied Science - Medical Imaging Specialization so speak with an advisor if you would like to add the adult and pediatric cardiac sonography skills while earning a bachelor's degree.

Students in Eastern Florida’s Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography certificate program benefit from:

Adult & Pediatric Cardiac Sonography ATC Admissions Information
EFSC’s Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography training begins each Fall Term with a limited access application and selection process in addition to the main EFSC admissions process. Work with an advisor as you follow the steps to apply by the July 15th annual deadline and you can also review Frequently Asked Questions.
- Review the Selection Criteria and Schedule Advising. The detailed Selection Criteria explains the point system used by the selection committee when reviewing and accepting applicants. Meet with a health sciences advisor at this stage to review the minimum requirements and go over your prior experience and credentials.
- Follow the Specialized Application Process. Program applicants must first complete EFSC's general admissions process or be current
students, a step explained as part of the the Adult & Pediatric Cardiac Sonography application process. During this phase, applicants must also complete an observation and shadowing experience.
- If selected, complete the accepted student requirements.
Program Costs & Financial Aid
Estimated expenses, including tuition, fees, books, and supplies for a student who is a Florida resident, total approximately $4,200. The program is eligible for financial aid so work with EFSC's Financial Aid Office to explore your options. You may be eligible for financial aid and scholarships to assist you in paying for the cardiac sonography program. We highly recommended applying for both federal aid and Titan Scholarships provided by the EFSC Foundation, as well as community-based scholarships.
