Application Process Open for 911 Operator Program

December 17, 2013

The Public Safety Institute at Eastern Florida State College is actively recruiting for its upcoming 911 Public Safety Telecommunications Academy.

The deadline to apply for the full time program is Jan. 17, 2014. Classes begin on Jan. 27, 2014.

The Public Safety Telecommunicator (Emergency 911 Dispatcher) PSAV course is an eight-credit, entry-level training program designed to give the student experience in handling equipment commonly used in a Public Safety communications environment, as well as knowledge of the basic tasks performed by a telecommunications officer.

The program prepares students for civilian employment as police, fire and emergency medical telecommunicators who operate telephones, radios and computer terminals responding to emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance.
