Artificial Intelligence Course
Eastern Florida State College is proud to offer CAI 1001 – Artificial Intelligence Thinking, the college’s first for-credit course in artificial intelligence. The course is returning for Spring 2026 after a successful launch, giving more students the chance to explore the rapidly growing world of AI.
Taught by computer science instructor Gary Hrezo, this engaging elective introduces students to the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence (AI) through an accessible, hands-on survey of AI concepts, tools, and technologies.
The hybrid classes on the Melbourne and Palm Bay Campuses are designed to build both AI awareness and digital competency. Students will explore:
- Key AI technologies and their real-world applications
- Classification algorithms and the basics of machine learning
- The difference between supervised and unsupervised learning
- Techniques for data preparation and training AI models for predictions
- An introduction to Generative AI and tools like ChatGPT and image generators
Whether you’re curious about how AI works or considering a future career in technology, CAI 1001 (CRNs: 11597 for Melbourne on Wednesdays and 11811 for Palm Bay on Thursday evenings) will provide a foundation in one of the most in-demand and transformative fields today. Registration for the course is now open.
