Eastern Florida Students to Present Admissions

October 31, 2019

Students at the Eastern Florida State College Melbourne Campus will present the play "Admissions" by Joshua Harmon on Wednesday, November 6 at the King Center for the Performing Arts in the Studio Theatre.

Performances are set for 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. They are free and open to the public. The Melbourne Campus is located at 3865 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32935.

Bill and Sherri are the white, progressive-and-proud headmaster and dean of admissions at Hillcrest, a mid-tier New Hampshire boarding school. Over the last 15 years, they've worked to diversify the school's mostly white population. But when their high-achieving son Charlie's Ivy League dreams are jeopardized, the family's reaction blasts open a deep rift between their public values and private decisions. This is a no-holds-barred look at privilege, power and the perils of whiteness from the author of "Bad Jews," the best-selling play in Studio Theatre history.

The play is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatricals Company. It contains mature themes and language.

A special Director's Talk will follow the first performance at 7 p.m. in Rehearsal Room 168.
