Eastern Florida State College recently announced that its Testing and Assessment Centers are recipients of the 2025 CLEP® Honors National Achievement Award for being a Top 20 CLEP® Center.

The CLEP® Honors Award is an annual College Board program that recognizes test centers that administer high volumes of CLEP® exams, providing students of all ages with the opportunity to earn college credits, saving them time and money toward achieving college degrees.

CLEP® is the most widely trusted credit-by-examination program, accepted at over 3,000 colleges nationwide.

“The EFSC Testing and Assessment Centers are the cornerstone of student success,” said College President Dr. Jim Richey. “This honor is testament to the hard work and dedication of the testing center team, and the leadership of its director, Valerie Rolling. We are extremely proud of their effort. Congratulations!”

Rolling became a member of the EFSC staff team in April 2019 as a part-time proctor and was promoted to Collegewide Testing and Assessment Director in June of 2023.

The changes she made to the Testing Centers led to the honor and positively impacted both prospective and current students.

Some of those changes included:

  • Increased access to CLEP® testing through expansion on the Cocoa Campus.
  • Expanded evening hours on the Melbourne Campus.
  • Enhanced access to certification for part-time proctors to be able to serve more students.
  • Opened the Florida Civic Literacy Exam to an online proctored format.
  • Implemented online testing appointment scheduling.
  • And in the last three months, she oversaw the testing of 3,000 students on EFSC campuses and coordinated testing for more than 800 Brevard Public School students interested in dual enrollment.

“This is such a huge honor,” said Rolling. “We are extremely proud to have achieved this recognition for EFSC. However, it was not just me. I could accomplish nothing without my testing team. I am truly blessed to get to work each day with such an amazing group of people who are dedicated to student success.”
