The EFSC Foundation's 6th Annual Backyard BBQ Cook-Off and Family Fest, held Saturday on the Melbourne Campus, raised more than $100,000 for Eastern Florida State College student scholarships.

In addition to BBQ samples, attendees enjoyed a day filled with live music, vendors, kid's activities and the Red, White and Wheels car show, a fundraising co-event organized by the Collegiate Veterans Society to benefit student veterans who attend EFSC.

Nearly 1,500 people bought $10 tickets to attend the outdoor BBQ, with the proceeds climbing thanks to the generosity of the numerous event sponsors which included Grand Champion Sponsors Community Credit Union and Carroll Distributing; Presenting Sponsor Glover, Orndorf and Flanagan; and Pitmaster Sponsors Health First, Barnes & Noble, AMKO and AJAX.

"We are so grateful to all the sponsors, volunteers, teams and attendees that came out to support student scholarships," said Tonya Cherry, the EFSC Foundation's Executive Director for Operations.

"It was a beautiful day. We couldn’t be happier about the results and we can’t wait to do it again next year."

Congratulations to this year's winning BBQ Cook-Off teams which took home bragging rights and cash prizes that ranged from $250 to $1,000 for the Grand Champion.
