March 15, 2017

The Eastern Florida State College Titusville Campus will host a Spring Classical Music Concert on Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in the Gymnatorium.

An educational open rehearsal will also be held on Thursday, March 23 at 7 p.m. in the Gymnatorium. The open rehearsal will last two and a half hours, with a 15 minute intermission and a question and answer session immediately following the concert.

Both the concert and open rehearsal are free and open to the public.

The concert itself will feature 11 local professional musicians conducted by EFSC Adjunct Professor Dr. Patrick Brill. It will consist of a blend of French and Germanic repertoire, pairing familiar historical compositions with contemporary works.

Dr. Brill holds a B.A. degree in Philosophy from the College (now University) of St. Thomas and a B.A. degree in Music from the University of Minnesota, where he studied music composition, piano and music history.

He went on to earn his Master of Music degree in Music History from the University of Northern Iowa and a Ph.D. in Historical Musicology from the University of Kansas, from which he graduated in 1995.

He has taught music history at the University of Kansas, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Rockhurst College, Valencia Community College, Barry University and Columbia College. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Music and Humanities at Eastern Florida State College in Titusville, Florida.

Members of the orchestra are musicians who play in the various professional orchestras in Central Florida, such as the Bach Festival Orchestra of Winter Park, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Villages Philharmonic Orchestra and others.
