Bachelor Degree Enrollment Grows at Eastern Florida

Bachelor Degree programs at Eastern Florida State College continue to grow in popularity with about 800 students enrolled in these upper level programs for Monday’s start of the spring term.

This is the first year the college is offering nine Bachelor tracks in the fast-growing career fields of Business, Health Care and Computer Information Technology.

The high enrollment number for spring is another sign the programs are important to the community, especially among working adults who comprise most of the students and who are returning to college to advance their careers.

“We’ve tailored the degrees to be affordable and convenient with classes available on campus and online, and more students are embracing the great opportunities that presents,” said college President Dr. Jim Richey.

"The Bachelor programs are an excellent fit for students already in the workforce as well as those just starting their college education, and all of us are committed to helping them succeed.”

The college graduated its first Bachelor Degree class in December when a dozen students earned their diplomas. More than 30 others are set to do the same in May.

In all, about 14,500 students are expected to take classes at Eastern Florida this spring on its Titusville, Cocoa, Melbourne and Palm Bay campuses and online. Most are enrolled in Associate Degree programs, some of which allow students to move directly into related Bachelor Degree tracks in Business, Health Care and Computer Information Technologies upon successful completion.

Meanwhile, Welcome Back events for students will be held on each campus the last week of January featuring campus resources, a chance to connect with student clubs, plus free food and fun.

It starts with Palm Bay’s event Monday, Jan. 26 at the Bldg. 2 patio. Titusville is Tuesday, Jan. 27 at the campus pavilion. Melbourne is Wednesday, Jan. 28 in the pavilion area. Cocoa’s event in the Quad is Thursday, Jan. 29.

All Welcome Back events are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Melbourne campus event will also feature an outdoor music festival with performances by Jay DiBella, the Savi Fernandez Band, Fresh Squeeze and the Gravel Kings.
