Welcome Back Set for Mid-August at King Center

August 1, 2013

The annual Welcome Back event for college faculty and staff signaling the start of the Fall Term will be held Aug. 15 at the King Center for the Performing Arts.

This year’s event will be the first for Eastern Florida State College since the college name change and will focus on the upcoming October visit by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, or SACS, accreditation committee.

The morning will include a 10 a.m. program featuring a college update by President Dr. Jim Richey and other speakers who will discuss the importance of SACS and the re-accreditation process.

The Quality Enhancement Plan, which is designed to improve student success and is a critical component of SACS re-accreditation, will also be discussed.

Afterward, QEP team members will staff information booths to provide additional materials and answer questions.

The SACS committee will visit all four campuses and meet with faculty, staff and students Oct. 21-24.

The Welcome Back will include lunch in the Melbourne campus gym and free T-shirts with the new Eastern Florida State College name.
