EFSC Trustee Ronald Howse Renamed Chair; New Trustee Welcomed

Ronald Howse has been named to an additional one-year term as chair of the Eastern Florida State College Board of Trustees.

Trustees gave Howse their unanimous support Monday, citing his strong leadership and dedication.

“What makes it easy to chair this board is the quality team at EFSC,” said Howse. “It is an honor to serve and work closely with my fellow trustees and our president, Dr. Jim Richey. I will do all I can to ensure the college’s continued success in improving the lives of our students and meeting the workforce needs here in Brevard.”

Howse is a professional engineer, CEO of the Real Deal Development Group, and the Principal of Howseco, LLC. He was appointed to the EFSC Board of Trustees in 2015 by then Gov. Rick Scott. He was first elected as chair of the board in 2022.

The board’s vice chair will also remain the same with Dr. Edgar Figueroa holding the post.
Newly appointed trustee Michael Demorat was also welcomed by the trustees. Demorat was appointed to the board in May by Gov. Ron Desantis. He will join others in service on board, including Bruce Deardoff, and Dr. Kristine Zonka.

“Eastern Florida State College is fortunate to have trustees who are deeply committed to our students and community,” said College President Dr. Jim Richey. “I congratulate Chair Howse on earning the confidence of his fellow board members once again and welcome Trustee Demorat to this important role as we continue building on the college’s momentum and impact throughout the region.”
