Eastern Florida State College announced that it has been awarded a $1.5 million Florida Job Growth Workforce Training Grant, a key state funding source that supports transportation infrastructure and workforce training initiatives.

“These grants will help students develop the skills in demand in key industries — ensuring Florida remains the national leader in workforce development and economic growth,” said Gov. Ron DeSantis in a post on X.

The grant will expand EFSC’s capacity to meet growing workforce needs in the construction and aerospace sectors. Funding will support the renovation and expansion of the College’s welding and HVAC labs, the purchase of new equipment, supplies, and training materials for hands on instruction, and the hiring of additional faculty to accommodate program growth.

“We are deeply grateful for this $1.5 million investment, which will significantly strengthen our welding and HVAC training programs and help us prepare even more students for high demand careers across Florida,” said EFSC President Dr. Jim Richey. “I want to thank Governor Ron DeSantis for his continued support of our mission to provide cutting edge workforce education. This grant will have a lasting impact on our students, our industry partners, and the economic vitality of our region.”
