Nursing Instructor Honored as EFSC Distinguished Educator

Eastern Florida State College Assistant Professor of Nursing, Ms. Tammy Harding, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Educator Award.
Harding, a valued member of the nursing faculty at EFSC’s Health Sciences Institute, was recognized for her exceptional professional expertise, positive influence, and unwavering commitment to shaping the future of nursing.
A colleague praised Harding as someone who “possesses the innate ability to foster a dynamic learning environment where curiosity thrives and critical thinking is paramount.”
One student shared, “She instills in us the values of compassion, empathy, and patient-centered care.”
“I am deeply honored by this recognition and grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of nursing education,” said Harding. “My mission is to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of nurses, ensuring they enter the profession with confidence, competence, and compassion.”
Nominations for the Distinguished Educator Award are submitted by EFSC faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students. The award includes a $1,500 honorarium provided by the EFSC Foundation.
“The role of a distinguished educator is multifaceted, requiring expertise, self-reflection, collaboration, and a student-centered mindset,” said Dr. Phil Simpson, Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.
“Ms. Harding’s dedication and skill as an educator truly set her apart,” added College President Dr. Jim Richey. “Her passion for students serves as an admirable example for others to follow. We are proud to recognize her as our 2025 Distinguished Educator.”
Presented annually by the EFSC Professional Development Council, the Distinguished Educator Award honors full- time faculty and librarians who demonstrate creativity, commitment, and innovation in helping students achieve their academic and career goals.
