Service-Learning Scholarships
Each Service-Learning scholarship requires a service component that may be filled through the Service-Learning program. If you have documented a minimum of 75 hours of service and have at least a 2.5 GPA, you are eligible to apply through the online applications for each scholarship. Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis, with the deadline for turning in applications and supporting materials each year on March 31st.
Service-Learning Scholarship Requirements
Outstanding Student Humanitarian Scholarship
Submission Deadline: March 31st each year
Eligibility:
- Must be a high school graduate or have obtained GED certification
- Must be a full- or part-time EFSC student
- Must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA
- Must have submitted a FAFSA for the current year (you don't have to qualify for financial aid; you just have to have applied)
- Must attend EFSC for the next academic year (two terms)
Terms:
- The tuition scholarship of $1,000 is to be used in one academic year ($500 for the Fall Term and $500 for the Spring Term).
- You must complete an application including an essay (500 words) entitled "My Humanitarian Service" describing a significant humanitarian service, total hours of service, and how the service benefitted the applicant, community, and college.
- You must also submit a copy of an unofficial EFSC transcript, which can be obtained via the Florida Shines website, plus three letters of reference, including one from the agency/service site where you performed your humanitarian effort. (Important Note: The essay, unofficial transcript, and three reference letters must be submitted through the online system at the same time the application is submitted).
- You must maintain a 2.5 GPA at EFSC to be eligible for the second term's scholarship.
- If you fail to complete the semester, you must repay the full amount of the scholarship award.
- You may only receive the scholarship award once.
On-Campus/Community Service Scholarship
Submission Deadline: March 31st each year
Eligibility:
- Must be a full- or part-time EFSC student
- Must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA
- Must have submitted a FAFSA for the current year (you don't have to qualify for financial aid; you just have to have applied)
- Must attend EFSC for the next academic year (two terms)
