Promotions Process at EFSC

To differentiate Eastern Florida State College promotions from activities considered illegal under Florida law, a set of official rules must be created and posted for all college-sponsored promotions before they are advertised electronically (on any online platform or via email) or in print.

What is a Promotion?

Promotions include instances in which prizes with retail value are awarded to a limited number of participants, whether at random or based on skill. They do not include instances in which free swag items are distributed to all participants (even if it's while supplies last).

EFSC promotions can fall into one of two categories (but cannot be a mixture of both):

  • Promotion is skill-based (participants must do, create, or submit something to enter)
  • Specific criteria are used to evaluate and rank submissions
  • Entrants must be currently enrolled EFSC students and legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia
  • Entrants must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry (unless in possession of a consent and release form signed by a parent or guardian)

  • Winners are selected at random
  • Cannot be called a raffle
  • Participants are not required to do, create, or submit anything to receive an entry
  • Entrants must be currently enrolled EFSC students and legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia
  • Entrants must be at least 18 years old at the time of entry (no exceptions)

Both contests and drawings are subject to these additional provisions:
  • All digital and print materials that mention a promotion must include a link to the official rules. Digital promotions can hyperlink directly, and print materials should include the following phrase: Visit for complete rules and eligibility information.
  • The rules for in-person events must specify an alternate digital method of entry to prevent exclusion
  • Parties conducting a promotion on behalf of the college must adhere to the dates, times, and actions outlined in the rules
  • Employees of Eastern Florida State College (including student workers and other companies associated with the promotion) and their respective immediate families (spouses, parents, siblings, and children) and household members are not eligible to win a prize in a college-sponsored promotion
  • Each eligible participant is permitted one entry per promotion

Once a promotion has been approved through your department’s established process, fill out the form on this page to request a set of rules. The Communications Team will work with you to ensure all required information (including a consent and release form if the promotion is a contest) is in place on this page prior to the start of your promotion.
