Monday Classes Held As Planned as TS Fred Downgraded
August 12, 2021 - Fall Term classes will begin as scheduled Monday at Eastern Florida State College with Tropical Storm Fred downgraded to a tropical depression and on a track that will take it into the Gulf of Mexico.
National Hurricane Center forecasters said Thursday morning they expect the system to move off the west coast of Florida over the weekend, regaining tropical storm strength and dropping heavy rainfall.
The projected path could bring 1-2 inches of rain to Brevard County, allowing the Fall Term to start as planned Monday with in-person classes held on all four campuses and online.
EFSC officials will continue to monitor Fred and provide updates as needed.
