The announcement was made during the Eastern Florida State College Board of Trustees meeting on the Melbourne campus where the King Center is located.

L3Harris’ donation will support the $3.6 million Keeping the King Center Cool initiative to modernize the 31-year-old facility and improve the experience for its guests. Expected to be completed in 2019, the initiative will upgrade the exterior and interior design, streamline security procedures and replace the aging air conditioning system.

In recognition of the contribution, the Center will rename its 2,016-seat main theatre the L3Harris Technologies Theatre at the Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts.

“This magnificent gift from L3Harris Technologies demonstrates its commitment to our community and its quality of life,” said Dr. Anthony Catanese, Chairman of the King Center Board of Directors. “We are so grateful and fortunate to have this wonderful corporation as a vital part of our community.”

“The donation reflects L3Harris’ long-standing appreciation for the important role that the King Center and the arts play in enriching our community,” said Bill Brown, Chairman and CEO, L3Harris. “The King Center is an important source of education and entertainment for existing Brevard residents and for helping to attract and retain new ones.”

L3Harris has been the King Center’s largest corporate supporter since the Center’s inception in 1988 – helping fund its endowment, and providing continuous annual sponsorships to offset programming and operation costs. L3Harris executives have also volunteered on the Center’s Board of Directors.

The support is part of L3Harris’ overall commitment to the community – with company and employees annually donating millions of dollars and volunteering thousands of hours to education and civic organizations throughout Central Florida.
