October 4, 2019 - The Eastern Florida State College Foundation's 6th Annual Golf Classic raised much-needed scholarship funds on Friday thanks to the generosity of players and sponsors.

The team defeated 30 other teams for the top spot, with Community Credit Union finishing second and Lightholder Building Contractors taking third place.

“This is unbelievable. It shows that everyone really loves what the college is doing and wants to be a part of it,” said Eastern Florida State College President Dr. Jim Richey.

"They want to help their fellow citizens that need financial help and you couple that with the job the Foundation is doing on all fronts to raise as much money as possible, and every year this gets bigger and bigger."

In addition to Signature Sponsor Community Credit Union, tournament sponsors included AJAX, Am-Ko, BRPH, M.H. Williams Construction Group, RZK Architects, Boys Electrical, Flammio Financial Group, Crowne Plaza Melbourne Oceanfront, Hilton Melbourne, ASTI, Moletteire Injury Law, Addition Financial, Cape Design Engineering Co., Health First, Ivey’s Construction and Met-Con Inc.

"It’s the community involvement, all of the different companies come out and support this tournament as well as people from the school."

Following the golf tournament, players enjoyed dinner at Suntree Country Club before the awards ceremony, which was also a chance to celebrate EFSC's achievements since the Scholarship Golf Classic began in 2014.

"The college has created 60 new academic programs in the last seven years that are all workforce related, providing students great job opportunities after graduation. Plus we haven’t raised tuition in eight years. I think everyone here understands that is a recipe for success and I certainly do," said Dr. Richey.

Established in 1971, the Eastern Florida State College Foundation is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation that provides financial support for student scholarships and educational programs.
