“It’s great to see all of you here to support an event that is both fun and important: The Inaugural Scholarship Golf Invitational and Rockin’ Ball Drop held by the Eastern Florida State College Foundation and presented by Sunrise Bank,” college President Dr. Jim Richey said in welcoming guests.
“Its purpose is to raise money that will be used to provide financial aid to EFSC students so they can advance their education. Through your participation, you are making a major difference in their lives and helping create a brighter future for them and for our entire community.
“I want to thank the officers and directors of Sunrise Bank for planning and organizing tonight’s event and the golf tournament at the Suntree County Club.”
The ball drop’s top prize of $20,000 went to the Glover Group which announced it was donating the money back to the Foundation. Five other winners received $1,000 each. They were: Excel Media, John Francey, Patrick Fullenwider, Cardinal Property Management and Susie Wasdin.
The fundraiser continues Friday with a golf tournament at Suntree.
Tournament registration is 11 a.m. with an 11:30 a.m. clinic with Senior PGA Player Marco Dawson. Play begins with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The awards ceremony starts at 5 p.m.
