BCC Planetarium Presents Special Space Lecture

August 6, 2012 - The Brevard Community College Planetarium will host a special public lecture entitled, “NASA’s Radiation Belt Storm Probes (RBSP) Mission and the Extremes of Space Weather” on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 7:30 PM at the Planetarium.

The lecture is free and open to the public. However, seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

The featured speaker is Dr. Nicola Fox, RBSP Deputy Project Specialist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

Dr. Fox is the Deputy Project Scientist for the Living with A Star (LWS) Radiation Belt Storm Probe (RBSP) mission. She has been involved with the mission since its onset 11 years ago.

Her role is to ensure the scientific integrity of the mission, representing the RBSP science team in all aspects of the project. She leads the science working group activities and serves as liaison with the mission engineering team and the NASA/Godard and NASA headquarters offices.

She has written or co-authored more than 80 published papers, and has made numerous presentations at high-profile events and on television on the subject of heliophysics.

The BCC Planetarium is located at 1519 Clearlake Rd. in Cocoa on the west side of the College's Cocoa campus.
