Session #1: My First Year at EFSC | Organizational Management

My First Year at EFSC 

You've got this, and we've got you! EFSC Advisors are an integral part of your academic journey. During this online workshop, you will meet EFSC Academic Advisors who are excited to help you with your next steps. They will explain how to navigate the myEFSC portal, locate important info on the EFSC website, and understand deadlines. You will also learn how to connect with appropriate college resources, understand college lingo, identify the correct courses to take towards your program, register, and monitor your progress for graduation. One of the many benefits of attending the My First Year workshop is that it also satisfies the First Time in College advisor meeting requirement!

Organizational Management

Organization isn't one-size-fits-all! The secret is to create an environment in which you feel more in-control and less stressed. This online workshop will teach you how to identify your unique organizational style and share hacks for better productivity.

Session #2: Strategies for Success | Time Management

Strategies for Success

Join us for a virtual roundtable discussion with current EFSC students and EFSC Advisors. Students will share which success skills and strategies they wish they had known before entering their first semester of college. Advisors will cover topics to help you confidently jump into your first semester, such as:

  • Planning It Out: How to create a workable timeline for the semester,
  • Making Connections: An introduction to EFSC's free student resources,
  • Thriving in the Classroom: Guidance regarding proper classroom etiquette and how to overcome common classroom obstacles, and
  • Self-Advocacy: How to access the help you need when you need it.
Time Management

Learning to balance your college responsibilities with your work, health, friends, family, and fun can be a challenge. This interactive workshop will share hacks for conquering procrastination, teach you how to effectively use a planner/to-do list, and engage you in real-time role play scenarios to practice your new time management skills.

Session #3: Financial Aid | Study Skills

Financial Aid

Paying for college can be tough. So can understanding all the ways to pay for college — but we’re here to help you figure it out! It’s important to understand the impact that poor budgeting and planning can have on your college career at EFSC and in the future. This online workshop will foster a better understanding of how to budget for college and apply for financial aid, while setting the stage as you strive to earn the salary to cover your future lifestyle.

Identify ways to improve your current study habits, discover your personal learning style, and create a customized study plan. Learn universal study hacks that can maximize your study time and help you feel more confident during exams!
