Spring Welding Course

Next Course Dates: April 17 - June 12, 2023 (No Class Memorial Day, May 29th)

This non-credit Welding course at Eastern Florida State College focuses on on learning one of the three most popular welding processes: Shielded Metal Arc (stick); Gas Metal Arc (MIG); or Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG), you choose your focus after registering. The course is designed for workers who want to add basic skills for career advancement and also people who want to learn how to weld because a hobby involves metal.

The hands-on course lasts eight weeks, and is taught Monday - Thursday from 5 to 9 PM, excluding holidays, on EFSC's Cocoa campus, located at 1519 Clearlake Rd.

Taught by EFSC's professional welding instructor, the evening hours were designed to be convenient for working adults who want to learn welding skills and also hobbyists who may want to add welding capabilities because they restore cars and motorcycles or are artists who want to expand their craft to include metal sculpting.

Course Costs and Equipment Needs

The course tuition is $950 that includes the lab fee. Students are required to provide their own personal protective equipment (PPE), such as a welding helmet, jacket, gloves, and leather steel-toed boots, plus basic tools. These items are estimated to cost $435.  A complete supply list will be provided.

Scholarship Opportunity

Students who are Brevard County residents may qualify for a scholarship that would apply toward the course tuition portion of the non-credit welding course. Fill out and submit the online scholarship form to be considered. Remember that you still need to register for the course through the online registration system as well.

The skills learned in the eight-week course can potentially translate into a jump start on EFSC's year-long Welding Technology certificate program.
