MSSC/CPT Certification Course

The CPT Certification process at Eastern Florida State College focuses on the core technical competencies of the entry-level production worker and is applicable in all sectors of manufacturing. This course prepares the student to sit for the four Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC) Production Technician certification assessments: Safety; Quality Practices & Measurement; Manufacturing Processes & Production; and Maintenance Awareness.

  • All online class sessions held Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6 - 10 PM
  • Online course delivery with recordings. Exams (4) are proctored at the Cocoa Campus Assessment Center, which provides all testing equipment.  (See testing details below.)

Scholarships

Scholarships are available for the CPT Course tuition, books, exams, and MSSC registration through the Economic Development Commission, EDC. See information in the "How to Register" box for scholarship details.

MSSC-CPT Testing

Exams will be administered and scheduled at the Cocoa Campus Assessment Center. By special request, exams may also be completed through ProctorU from your home computer. To ensure that you have the equipment required for testing through ProctorU, click to review technical requirements. Assessments will be given after each unit in the certification course and scheduled by the student through the Cocoa Assessment Center or through ProctorU. Participants who pass any of the four Production modules will be awarded certificates for each specific module. Those who pass all four core Production modules will be awarded a “Certified Production Technician (CPT)” credential. 

Class Format

The course is a 10-week, synchronous online course where you will view and participate in a lecture twice a week from your own computer. During the lecture you may ask questions and have immediate response from your instructor. If you are unable to participate in the live lecture, a link will be available for viewing afterwards. At that point you may email your questions. Practice quizzes and vocabulary sheets are used to further prepare the student for each exam.

Earn College Credits

MSSC CPT certification is worth up to 15 credits toward an Industrial Management Technology associate's degree or an Engineering Technology Associate’s Degree at EFSC.

How to Register

 
 
 
 

Course registration is an easy, two-step process

Step 1: Prospective participants in the MSSC-CPT course must complete the EDC Scholarship Program Application .  Full scholarships are available that will cover the tuition, books, exams, and MSSC registration.  This is open to Brevard County Residents only. Non-residents will pay the full amount.

Step 2: Complete EFSC Registration. Registration  can be done online by clicking Online Registration below. All must have applied for the EDC scholarship in Step 1. There will be a fee on the student's account until the EDC scholarship payment is applied to the student's account.
