Vascular Sonography Advanced Technical Certificate
Annual Program Start: Summer Term
Deadline to Apply: Extended to May 1 for 2023
This 12-week program in Vascular Sonography allows registered Sonography professionals to expand their skills and leads to an Advanced Technical Certificate (ATC) from Eastern Florida State College. Classroom and hands-on clinical experience are both key parts of the program, with local hospitals, diagnostic centers and clinics serving as clinical education settings for the certificate. Job opportunities include working in hospitals, emergency clinics, medical clinics and physician’s offices.
Vascular Sonography is a limited access program with a specialized application process. The program is Summer Term each year with a 12-week program split into two six-week sessions during Summer Terms B and D at the Health Sciences Institute on the Melbourne Campus. The training is offered through a cohort-style approach with up to 12 to 14 students accepted for each class. The certificate curriculum can also be part of a Bachelor of Applied Science - Medical Imaging Specialization program.
Vascular technologists provide diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures regarding blood vessels. These healthcare professionals are highly-skilled in the use of specialized equipment to create images of structures inside the human body, which physicians use to make a medical diagnosis.
Vascular Technologists have extensive, direct patient contact that may include performing invasive procedures. EFSC's program is designed to assure quality patient care, meet the needs of an ever-changing technical field and develop professional responsibility.
Each EFSC program includes multiple learning outcomes that clearly explain the anticipated skills, knowledge and competencies students are expected to develop during their program of study. View the Vacular Sonography learning outcomes.
