EFSC Dental Assisting Technology and Management A.S. Degree

Thank you for your interest in this program

If you are currently a dental assistant looking to move up the career ladder, the Dental Assisting Technology and Management A.S. degree may be a good choice for you.

Current dental assistants who have graduated from an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited program, within the past 3 years, may continue their education with the Dental Assisting Technology and Management A.S. degree.

Three specialty options are available:

  • Educational Methodologies and Strategies
  • Marketing and Sales of Dental Products
  • Dental Practice Set-up and Management

Courses for the three A.S. degree options are available online and in the traditional classroom setting. The degree has a custom application process in addition to the general EFSC application and interested students are encouraged to meet with a Health Sciences advisor as they apply to the program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a graduate of EFSC's Dental Assisting Program to apply for Dental Assisting Technology & Management?

No. Graduates from any one-year Dental Assisting Program that is accredited by the American Dental Association may apply to this AS degree program.

Graduates of the EFSC Dental Assisting program do not have to submit an application, if they completed the ATD program within 3 years (or are currently enrolled in the ATD program).

Are the courses required for the A.S. degree offered online?

Yes. Although the courses may not be offered each and every semester online, all of the courses in each option have been offered online; however, it is important to check availability of online courses each semester.

Will these courses qualify for financial aid?

Yes. If you qualify to receive financial aid, these courses should be covered.

Will I be placed in a job after completing the A.S. degree program?

No. We do not place students in a job.  However, the college does offer resources to assist those seeking employment (job fairs, Career Planning & Development Center, job board, and direct inquiries to the program managers).

Will these courses transfer into the dental hygiene program at EFSC?

The dental support courses from the one-year dental assisting program and several general education courses will transfer into the hygiene program. Please review the dental hygiene curriculum for transferable courses and see a health science advisor for more information.
