Cardiac Sonography ATC Application Procedure

Please note: This program is adding pediatric coursework to become the Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography ATC program, with a start date of Fall Term 2023. Check back for updated information soon about when students can apply for the new version of this program.

This add-on Advanced Technical Certificate is available to students who meet the minimum requirements for acceptance: successful completion of the ARDMS SPI examination, plus holding a current registration in any RDMS specialty. (In order for the student to sit for the ARDMS RDCS board specialty exam, successful completion of the SPI exam and passing a board specialty exam must have occurred within 5 years of each another). Applicants must be a graduate of a 2-year, regionally accredited Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The certificate curriculum can also be part of EFSC's Bachelor of Applied Science - Medical Imaging Specialization program, which does require a different application process so ask an advisor if interested in that option.

Note: Points will be awarded to applicants for the Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography Advanced Technical Certificate program who hold a current registration from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Sonography), and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).  See Selection Criteria for more information.

Eligible students must apply for general admissions to EFSC or be current EFSC students in order to apply to the Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography program. For any questions as you work through the application steps in the accordion below, contact Health Sciences Advising at 321-433-7575 or healthscience@easternflorida.eduAcceptance to the program is based on a Selection Points system. Additionally, Post-Acceptance Requirements include a Level 2 background check and drug screening (cost paid by student).

Please note that current EFSC Sonography students who are expected to graduate in the Spring Term (May), are eligible to submit an application to the Adult and Pediatric Cardiac Sonography ATC program by the application deadline. Program acceptance for current Sonography students is “contingent” based on Sonography Program completion, graduation AND proof of ARDMS certification received by the application deadline. All applicants with current certification and licensure by the application deadline will be given priority acceptance.
