April 30, 2018: Non-Credible Threat, Melbourne Campus - Eastern Florida State College has increased security patrols on all four of its campuses following a threat about a possible shooting on the Melbourne Campus on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Melbourne Police Department are investigating the threat, which was found written on a restroom wall, and do not believe it is credible. However, the college and law enforcement agencies take all threats with the utmost seriousness.

As a result, the EFSC Security Force has increased its armed patrols on the Titusville, Cocoa, Melbourne and Palm Bay campuses as a precaution. The Sheriff’s Office and Titusville, Cocoa, Melbourne and Palm Bay police have also heightened their patrols on those campuses.

Final exams will continue as planned today and throughout the week on all EFSC campuses.

February 4, 2016: Car Burglary Alert, Cocoa Campus - The EFSC Security Office has responded to two car burglaries in the past few days on the Cocoa Campus. Cocoa Police are also investigating 10 vehicle burglaries in different areas of their city. Suspects of crime are always looking for unlocked vehicles and checking for valuable items lying in open view such as purses, wallets, cell phones, computers or money.

In the wake of the break-ins, College Security Officers are carefully patrolling all four of campuses. Here are some safety tips you can use to keep your valuables safe in your vehicles:

  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Place your valuables out of site such as in a locked glove box or trunk.
  • Lock your vehicle.
  • Keep your keys, and keyless entry systems, secure.
  • Report suspicious activity to College Security or dial 911 in an emergency.
