Cultural Exchange with Peking Acrobats

A cultural exchange took place on February 13, 2013 between THE PEKING ACROBATS, a troupe of China's most gifted tumblers, contortionists, jugglers, cyclists and gymnasts, complemented by live musicians playing traditional Chinese instruments following their morning performance at the King Center. The 30 athletes/performers met with approximately 20 Brevard Community College students from Susan Lamm-Merritt’s “Introduction to Diversity for Educators” class.Any student pursuing a higher level education degree in the state of Florida must take this class. Lamm-Merritt checked with the Brevard County School District and found that Chinese is the 5th most popular language used in local homes when English is not the language of first-choice. This hands-on field trip helped promote cultural diversity and understanding.
