April 26, 2017 - Eastern Florida State College students will be in the spotlight May 11 when they walk across the stage to receive their diplomas during Spring Commencement.

There will be two ceremonies at the King Center for the Performing Arts on the Melbourne campus:

  • The first will start at noon with graduates who live in North Brevard County, plus students in the Aerospace and Health Sciences programs
  • The second will start at 3:30 p.m. with graduates who live in South Brevard County.

Doors to the King Center will open one hour before each ceremony. No tickets are required, but seating space is limited so it's recommended that graduates limit their guests to four people. Additional seating will be available in an overflow video viewing areas.

More than 2,000 students are eligible to graduate with as many as 900 expected to attend the ceremonies. Because of the large crowds, campus security is asking attendees to consider using the south campus parking lot.

Both ceremonies will be televised live on WEFS-TV and streamed live on the college’s @easternflorida YouTube channel with a link also available at the college website.

“Commencement is the culmination of years of hard work for students, making it a special day for them and their families,” said EFSC President Dr. Jim Richey.

“We’re very proud of them and also proud of the college’s faculty and staff who have played an important role in helping them succeed.”

Ceremony attendees are encouraged to share photos via social media using the hashtag #efscgrad plus special commencement Snapchat geofilters will be available inside and adjacent to the King Center.

Graduates can visit the EFSC Alumni Association booth outside the King Center for a free picture at the photo booth. They also can sign up for a free first-year membership in the Alumni Association, which includes a free DVD via mail of their commencement ceremony.

The spring term graduates will join more than 100,000 others who have graduated from the college since it began in 1960.

Eastern Florida offers more than 100 degrees and programs including Bachelor Degrees, Associate Degrees and Certificate Programs in some of today’s fastest growing career fields. Classes are available on all four campuses and online.
