Eastern Florida State College to Host 2017 and 2019 Women's Soccer Championships

April 6, 2016 - Eastern Florida State College’s Titan Soccer Complex will host the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship in 2017 and 2019, the sanctioning body announced on Tuesday.

The complex, located on the Melbourne Campus, has been the tournament site since 2013 and will host it again this November.

The 2018 tournament will be held in Foley, Ala.

The tournament draws 12 teams from around the country. Eastern Florida’s women have competed the last four years, finishing second in 2012 and 2015, reaching the semifinal in 2014 and exiting in the first round in 2013.

The event generates a $1.1 million economic boost in Brevard County through spending by families and fans, according to a study conducted by Space Coast Sports Promotions.

The figure is based on a model developed by the Florida Department of Commerce to determine the value of sporting events for local economies.

“We are thrilled to be awarded the tournament for two more years,” said Eastern Florida’s Associate Vice President of Athletics Jeff Carr who doubles as head women’s soccer coach.

“Thanks to the vision and support of our president Dr. Jim Richey and the Board of Trustees, we have the facilities in place to support the tournament and bring more exposure to the campus and the college as a whole.”

The complex also is home to EFSC’s men’s team and Orlando City B of the USL, the farm team of Major League Soccer’s Orlando City Lions.
