Bontrager, 18, is a dual-enrolled student working toward both his high school diploma and a college degree who takes classes on the Melbourne campus.

The All-Florida Academic Team consists of 128 students from the 28-member Florida College System that includes Eastern Florida.

Team honorees are nominated by their colleges and selected based on high achievement in the classroom, leadership on campus and service to the community.

The students have also been nominated to the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by USA Today and the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society.

“Joshua shows how students at Eastern Florida can excel in the classroom while also working to make a difference in our community,” said college President Dr. Jim Richey.

“When you consider there are nearly 900,000 students in the Florida College System, Joshua is among the best of the very best.

“I know an extremely bright future awaits him, and all of us at the college are extremely proud of his accomplishment.”

Members of the All-Florida Academic Team will be formally recognized during an April 21 awards ceremony in Tampa.
