EFSC Helps Women Return to Workforce

January 19, 2016 - A successful program pairing Eastern Florida State College and the AARP Foundation to help train women age 50+ with new job skills and help them get jobs is opening its doors to more participants.

AARP SIF LogoThe BACK TO WORK 50+ Women’s Economic Stability Initiative will hold an information session on Wednesday, Feb. 10 from 9 to 11 a.m. on the Melbourne Campus, 3865 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne in the Bldg. 4 Auditorium.

AARP LogoThe program, which involves partners such as Career Source Brevard, has helped about 250 women since it began last year, providing job skills and information to help them make sound financial decisions that can lead to greater financial stability.

Some 101 participants have been selected for the “in-depth” portion of the program. It includes motivational support, one-on-one job search coaching, taking classes at EFSC to earn two-year degrees and participating in “Ready to Work” certificate programs.

To date, 26 participants have completed the program and gained employment.
