The Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) is one of the nation's largest multi-disciplinary research conferences. It is an annual event open to all undergraduate researchers in the state of Florida to present their research in a poster forum. Every year the conference will be hosted at a different university in the state on the last weekend in February. In addition to research presentations, there are also exhibitors from graduate programs and other opportunities targeted for students involved in undergraduate research.

The 2018 Florida Undergraduate Research Conference will be held on the Melbourne, FL campus of Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) February 23-24, 2018. EFSC is located on Florida's Space Coast near the Atlantic Ocean about 70 miles southeast of Orlando. The Melbourne Campus address is 3865 North Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL, 32935. Poster and Abstract Guidelines & Submission Link

  • Poster presentations are paper displays that must be printed in advance.
  • There may not be space available for models/devices/computers or other visual aids. Contact abstracts@furc.org to discuss options for bringing additional aids.
  • Posters should be 3 feet (36 inches) tall x 4 feet (48 inches) wide
  • Abstract Submission: Abstracts/artist statements are limited to 250 words; abstracts over 250 words may be rejected. Include an introductory statement, a brief description of the research methods/approach, written results and discussion/conclusion. Only submit plain text - do NOT include pictures, graphs or special characters.

Recruiter Information

The Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) planning committee and the FURC State Board are excited to invite institutions/organizations to participate in the 2018 Recruiters Fair as a part of the 2018 Florida Undergraduate Research Conference. Choosing to participate will connect you with approximately 1,000 of Florida's best and brightest students. These are students who have a keen interest in pursuing competitive degree programs and employment.

Recruiters include:

  • undergraduate colleges and universities across the U.S.
  • graduate colleges and universities across the U.S.
  • undergraduate research programs
  • graduate research programs
  • internship programs
  • employers

The Florida Undergraduate Research Conference has become a showcase for the impressive and innovative research being performed by undergraduate students from around the state. At the most recent conference, almost 1,000 people were in attendance at Florida Atlantic University, including students, faculty and staff from the major state colleges and universities, as well as primarily undergraduate institutions throughout Florida.

On Friday, February 23, recruiting tables will be located in the King Center where students will eat dinner and attend the opening ceremony and festivities, including the guest speaker.

On Saturday, February 24, recruiting tables will be located in Building 6 (gym) surrounding the poster presentations and providing central access to students at FURC 2018.

There are two recruiter registration options.

The recruiter registration fee of $300 includes:

  • Credentials for up to 2 people to attend FURC on Saturday, February 24
  • Table with 2 chairs in the gymnasium on Saturday
  • Tech support
  • Lunch for up to 2 people on Saturday
  • Free parking
  • Access to the best and brightest undergraduate researchers in the state of Florida

The recruiter registration fee of $350 includes all of the above, plus:

  • Credentials for up to 2 people to attend FURC on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24
  • Table with 2 chairs in the King Center on Friday
  • Tech support on Friday
  • Dinner for up to 2 people on Friday
  • Free parking on Friday

Please note the final day to request a refund is February 15, 2018. Each cancellation may incur a $50 processing fee deducted from the refund. Cancellation notices received after February 15, 2018 will result in forfeiture of the registration fee.
