Students on the BeachCongratulations! You're about to start your very first semester of college, and we're here to help ensure your success so you can get on track to graduate with confidence and land your dream job.

Not only do employers look for educated job candidates, but they also look for candidates with well-rounded soft skills, such as communication, organization, critical thinking and more. Even technical career fields require some of these basics.

Get a jump-start on these skills by attending Summer Kick Start workshops!

This three-part summer series is designed to help you develop crucial soft skills while navigating your first year at Eastern Florida State College. Pre-registration for the workshops is required using the "Register Now" links in the listings on this page. All workshops include:

  • Materials to help you succeed
  • Interactive presentations
  • Peer networking

You could be eligible for a free course scholarship!

Attend all three workshops, plus meet the other eligibility requirements, and you could qualify for a course scholarship to be used during the Fall 2019, 16-week term. Session #1: Building Your Course Schedule & Time Management

Session # 1 includes two great topics that are critical for a fast start in College.

Want to learn some skills to help you build the perfect EFSC schedule, then apply those skills to the real world? Join us to learn how your goals and strengths matter, how to impress potential employers and even how to break the rules!

As a college student, you are in charge of your school schedule. But with that comes a lot of responsibility when you begin to factor in time for work, family and friends. This interactive time management workshop will leave you with a usable product to master your schedule.

Session #2: Using myEFSC & Organizational Skills

Session #2 will focus on the College's myEFSC Student Service Portal (and lots of online tools) plus help get you organized for success.

This workshop will help you gain a better understanding of how to use tools on the EFSC website including myEFSC. During the workshop, you will learn how to access Titan Web, Canvas, student email, scholarship applications and your class schedule through myEFSC.

Did you know that everyone has his or her own personal organizational style? In this interactive workshop, you'll also identify your organizational style and receive tips and tricks on how to better your organizational skills!

Session #3: Financial Aid & Study Skills

Session #3 gets real — with strategies for paying for college and making your investment pay off through great study skills.

Paying for college can be tough. So is understanding all the ways to pay for college, but we’re here to help you figure it out. It’s important to understand the impact poor budgeting and planning can have on your college career at EFSC and in the future. This workshop will foster a better understanding of how to budget for college and apply for financial aid, while setting the stage as you strive to earn the salary to cover your future lifestyle!

In this workshop, you'll also identify your current approach to study skills and your learning style to help create a customized study plan. Maximizing your study time and acing your tests will leave you with more free time!
