BCC Volleyball Team Up First on New Gym Floor

October 8, 2012 - The Brevard Community College volleyball team inaugurates the new wood floor in the Melbourne Campus gym on Tuesday against powerhouse Miami Dade College.

Ribbon cutting for the floor is at 5:25 p.m. with the match following at 6. Admission is free.

Miami Dade, which defeated visiting BCC in four sets on Sept. 12, comes into Tuesday's match at 9-4 overall and 6-0 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference. BCC is 3-20 overall and 0-6 in conference play but head coach Herb Tokumoto isn't backing down.

"To play the first official match will be emotional and exciting," he said. "Yes Miami Dade is the toughest in our conference. It is important to play within our system and play with desire and the drive that makes us competitive. Expectations are for the girls to go out and do their best and compete with desire."

Beyond Tuesday BCC visits St. Johns River Community College in Palatka at 5 p.m. on Friday. Also after Tuesday BCC has two home matches remaining, 7 p.m., Oct. 16 against conference foe Indian River State and 7 p.m., Oct. 25 against Polk State College.
