BCC Volleyball Suffers 10th Defeat in Four-Set Loss to Miami Dade

September 12, 2012 - The Brevard Community College volleyball team made a go of it on Wednesday night against Miami Dade College in Kendall but in the end dropped a four-set match to suffer its 10th loss of the season.

BCC lost 15-25, 25-22, 19-25 and 17-25.

"The team fought hard," BCC head coach Herb Tokumoto said. "They really challenged Miami Dade to play its best."

Taylor Gembecki recorded 32 assists for BCC, Ashley Gonzalez had 10 kills and Sami Spring eight kills.

BCC is 2-10 overall and 0-3 in the Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference. Miami Dade is 3-0 in the conference and 4-3 overall.

BCC plays its first Brevard County matches of the season on Friday, hosting a quad match on the Titusville Campus.

Also competing are St. Johns River State College, South Florida State College and Florida State College Jacksonville. BCC plays St. Johns River at noon and Florida State College Jacksonville at 6 p.m. South Florida State plays St. Johns River at 2 p.m. and South Florida State plays Florida State College Jacksonville at 4 p.m.

Admission to the matches is free. BCC's first home match of the season at the Melbourne Campus gym – where a new wood floor is being installed - is Oct. 9 against Miami Dade.
