Eastern Florida Women's Tennis Receives National Ranking

Nov. 13, 2013 - Eastern Florida State College's nascent women's tennis team has received national rankings in the November Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Junior/Community Colleges Women's National Rankings.

Eastern Florida is ranked 16th nationally as a team while freshman Isabella Sella of Valinhos, Brazil is ranked 11th individually and sophomore Kalia Cochran of Indialantic, FL is 36th.

Sella and Cochran are ranked 10th nationally as a doubles team.

"It's pretty good considering we played a limited fall schedule and without a full team," said Eastern Florida head coach Chuck Jacobs.

"As for Isabella and Kaila, the notice is certainly deserved and welcome but also sets a high standard for the spring season."

Eastern Florida plays its first championship season beginning this spring. It debuted with two scrimmages and one ITA event this fall.

Tyler Junior College of Tyler, TX, is the nation's top-ranked team. Fourth-ranked St. Petersburg College leads the Florida teams followed by State College of Florida in sixth, Florida State College Jacksonville in seventh, Broward College in 14th, Eastern Florida in 16th and Hillsborough Community College in 18th.

Niriantsa Rosolomalala of Georgia Perimeter College is the nation's top-ranked woman player. Miranda Talbert of State College of Florida leads Florida women in third followed by Olivia Rolle of Florida State College at Jacksonville in fourth.

Also this fall Eastern Florida's men's and women's soccer teams - both bound for their respective national tournaments - and the golf team received national rankings.
