Eastern Florida Softball Splits With Lake Sumter

April 1, 2014 - Eastern Florida's softball team split a doubleheader with Lake-Sumter State College at the National Training Center in Clermont on Tuesday, winning the opener 5-3 and dropping the nightcap 5-3.

The non-conference split moved Eastern Florida's overall record to 18-19. Lake-Sumter moved to 22-25.

Brooke Formby was the winning pitcher for the Titans in the first game. Hannah Denny took the loss in the second game as the Titans left 15 runners on base.

Formby was 4-for-8 overall at the plate while Bri Seaman was 3-for-7.

The Titans jump right back into Florida College System Activities Association Southern Conference play for their final 10 games of the season beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth. The Titans then travel to Fort Pierce to play nationally second-ranked Indian River at 2 and 4 p.m. on April 8.

Eastern Florida is 4-2 in the conference, trailing first-place Indian River (5-1) by one game. Miami Dade College is 5-3, Palm Beach State 4-4 and Broward College 0-8.

Southern Conference foes face each other four times each for a total of 16 games. The top three finishers advance to the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 tournament.
