Eastern Florida Softball Splits Doubleheader With Lake-Sumter

Feb. 28, 2014 - Eastern Florida's softball team split two extra-inning games with Lake-Sumter State College on Friday on the Palm Bay Campus.

Freshman Fallon McLaughlin drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Eastern Florida to a 4-3 victory in the first game. Sophomore left-hander Brooke Formby went eight innings for the victory.

Formby took the loss in 10 innings in the second game as Lake-Sumter prevailed 6-5. Sophomore Bri Seaman went 2-for-5 for Eastern Florida with a double, triple and two runs batted in. Seaman also scored the winning run in the first game.

Eastern Florida is now 9-11 on the season. Lake-Sumter is 14-11.

Softball returns to action on Sunday hosting St. Johns River State College (6-6) for a 1 and 3 p.m. doubleheader. Admission is free.
