BCC Softball Adds 13 Players for Next Season; Names Captains

June 3, 2013 - With 13 new players signed for 2013-2014 and a solid group of sophomores expected back, Brevard Community College softball coach Ed Yanes has high expectations.

"We feel we will have a good mix of talent this fall," Yanes said of the informal fall season. BCC competes formally in the spring. The Titans finished last season with a 30-27 record, qualifying for the state tournament for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons.

"It is a little too early to tell where we will be with all the new faces, but one thing will remain a constant is that the Titans will come ready to compete day and day out. The new faces and of course the returnees, are anxious to get here in a couple months and get started on the next chapter of their careers."

BCC will compete as Eastern Florida State College beginning on July 1.

"After our first team and parent move-in day meeting scheduled for August, we will at least all be on the same page with regard to our expectations," Yanes said.

"The number one goal is to have the kids graduate. That's not just a cliché. Also, they have to come prepared to compete for a spot. The Titans motto is 'Position by Competition' and we need all players and parents to be on board with that, and if this happens we look for an exciting and interesting year.

"With our mix of local, out of town and state talent, along with the strong backing from the athletic department, the Lady Titans softball team looks for a productive 2013-14 year."

The sophomores and captains are catcher Manya Lopez, pitcher Brooke Formby, and outfielders Devin Williams, and Brianna Seaman.
