May 13, 2013 - Brevard Community College's softball team commemorated its 2013 season with a dinner, plaques and platitudes on Thursday on the Palm Bay Campus.

Head coach Ed Yanes did not dwell on the season's record, which was 30-27 for the team's sixth straight winning campaign, or the its accomplishments, highlighted by competing in the state tournament for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons.

Instead Yanes took the time to personally address the attributes of each player, presenting each with a plaque.

He also presented plaques to the parents of players Kat Ammons, Cassie Boggs and Sarah Sinopoli for their support of the program and to his assistant coaches Bob Yanczewski and Kim Overbey.

In turn Yanczewski presented Yanes with a plaque for his leadership.

Yanes did make note of the honors several of his players received: Ammons and Boggs received Florida College System Activities Association First-Team All-State honors while Shannen Marchu received second-team recognition.

Boggs was named FCSAA Southern Conference Player of the Year for the second time and was an All-Conference First Team selection with Ammons, Marchu and Manya Lopez.

Nichole Mills, Alaina DeVeny, Jami Cordell, Brooke Formby and Brianna Seaman received Second Team honors.
